If you're only really asking about training, then it would depend on the size of the business. If there's only about 1 - 10 people, then it would usually be the duty of the owner to train new staff, as he or she would be the person with the most interest in ensuring that everyone knows what they are doing. If you go into 10 - 30 or so staff, you'd probably have an operational or production manager who should take care of training.

I really feel for you, and wish i had a magic answer for you. But all is not lost - there may be a way out. I'm a retired VP of a technology company, I retired two years ago and I'm in my mid 40's. Tell me what your business does and perhaps i can figure a way for you to increase your sales and or profit margin and make this a fun job.

All good points, but nothing was mentioned about customer service. The quality of staff and their attentiveness and courteousness to customers needs is, I believe, tantamount to everything listed above.

Competitors will steal your look, your strategies, your product, your marketing... but one thing they won't steal is superior customer service. Most hire just anybody. One should always hire for character. By hiring the best, you have a better staff, a better staff gives better service. It's moving the bell curve, so to speak. Superior customer service is tough to achieve. But it can be done. This is what will get recognized by customers. This is what will build business. This is what will grow a customer base.

If one is to succeed, one can no longer think of their business and product as a commodity. Service is the answer. Service is king.
